How to become a model with no experience
You do not need a portfolio, contacts or paid photos to start. You need simple photos, a safe agency and a little patience.

1. Check the basics
Agencies represent adults for most work, and Satin Models only represents people aged 18 and over. Fashion and runway work usually has height guidance; commercial work is more flexible. Our requirements page explains both.
2. Take simple digitals
Digitals are plain photos that show what you look like today: close-up, waist-up, full length and profile, in daylight, without filters or heavy make-up. Our guide to model digitals walks you through it with a phone.
3. Choose agencies carefully
- A real agency never asks you to pay to apply or to join.
- It has a website, clear legal pages and an official email domain.
- It does not ask for ID or bank details before you have met and signed.
Read how to spot fake scouts before you reply to anyone who contacts you.
4. Apply
Send your digitals, height and contact details through the agency's own form. At Satin Models you can apply online with links to your photos. You will hear from us by email only if we would like to meet you.
5. Meet the agency
If an agency is interested, they will invite you to meet. They will take measurements and new digitals and talk through the type of work they see for you. Take your time to read any contract, and ask questions.
6. Build your book
New models usually start with test shoots arranged by the agency, which become the first pages of a portfolio (your "book") and your comp card. Castings and go-sees follow. See what agencies and casting directors look for.
Be patient and consistent
Modelling careers build over time. Reliability, good communication and looking after your health matter as much as your photos.
